Participation in the UNESCO Ocean Literacy training
Between 10 and 14 March, the FMB represented the Maio Biosphere Reserve in Zanzibar, where the pillars of Biosphere Reserves - conservation, development and education/research - and their impact on marine ecosystems were discussed.

Fishmongers of Calheta in action for the future of fishing
In February, fishmongers from Calheta learned how to reduce waste, transform by-products, improve fish conservation and packaging, create new products and apply good practices, strengthening local fishing and valuing their work.

Official Delivery of the Environmental Citizenship Education Guide
We celebrated the delivery of the Environmental Citizenship Education Guide, which will be part of the 2nd cycle curriculum in Maio, addressing ecosystems, fauna, flora, waste and climate change, promoting a more conscious and sustainable generation.
Maio is an example in Cape Verde and in the world, based on djunta mon, biodiversity conservation, and social progress rooted in respect for local culture and gender equality.
Promote the protection of biodiversity and social progress on Maio Island through conservation actions, empowerment, and economic sustainability of local communities.
